A Creative Collaboration with Heather Anne Gordon

Heather Anne Gordon is a South Australian author and artist whose work carries a rare tenderness, depth, and quiet power. I have had the privilege of knowing Heather for nearly four decades, during which time our creative paths have crossed and recrossed in many forms. Across the years, we have collaborated on a diverse range of projects and explored an equally diverse range of ideas, always grounded in mutual respect, trust, and a shared love of storytelling and art.

This current collaboration feels especially meaningful. I am deeply honoured to be working alongside Heather once again, this time illustrating a selection of her beautiful book covers. It is a joy to bring visual form to stories shaped by such sensitivity and integrity, and to contribute to the evolving life of her work.

Our partnership is rooted not only in long friendship, but in a shared creative language that has grown richer over time. Supporting Heather’s ongoing literary and artistic journey, and helping to carry her work forward into the future, is both a privilege and a responsibility I hold with great care.

This collaboration celebrates continuity, creativity, and the enduring value of making art together — thoughtfully, respectfully, and with heart.

About My Practice

My creative practice is grounded in long-form relationships — with people, stories, and ideas that unfold over time. Working across illustration and artistic collaboration, I am drawn to projects that value care, depth, and continuity, where visual language is not simply decorative but responsive to meaning, emotion, and intent.

Much of my work emerges through collaboration. I value processes built on trust, shared history, and attentive dialogue, allowing each piece to grow organically rather than by prescription. Illustration, for me, is an act of listening as much as it is an act of making — a way of holding space for narrative, memory, and atmosphere.

Reuniting creatively with Heather Anne Gordon reflects the heart of my practice: returning to meaningful connections, honouring the richness of lived experience, and contributing thoughtfully to work that has lasting presence. Whether supporting literary projects, visual storytelling, or collaborative creative ventures, I approach each with respect for the work itself and for the relationships that sustain it.

At its core, my practice is about continuity — about showing up over time, shaping work with care, and helping stories find a visual form that feels true to their voice.
